Logan, UT Sesquicentennial Celebration

Logan’s celebration for its 150th year incorporated will kick off at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Logan LDS Tabernacle.

The program includes a welcome from Mayor Craig Petersen, a celebration of all the living former mayors of Logan, a celebration of the city’s oldest living residents, a presentation of the colors by the Logan City Police/Fire Honor Guard, a performance by the American Festival Chorus and remarks by LDS Apostle Gary E. Stevenson.

Logan would like to thank the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, Music Director Craig Jessop, the Westminster Bell Choir, Lynn Thomas and Kevin Olson.

The music of Cache Valley's own Jay Richards will be featured in this exciting concert.  Well-known in the Utah music and theater community, Richards’ artistic reach extends far beyond the mountains of northern Utah.  He has composed for studio, film, television, radio, musical theater, dance, and the concert stage, as well as for countless commercial album releases.  His orchestral works and two of his musicals, “Jane Eyre” and “Little Women,” have been performed internationally.  Richards also teaches Music Composition at BYU-Idaho.

“An Evening with Jay Richards” will feature a varied repertoire of his works, including sacred music arrangements, popular tunes from his musicals...

Celebrate the Fourth

Join the American Festival Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, and the USU Summer Alumni Band, under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Morrison, as they present a rousing concert of patriotic music to celebrate Independence Day weekend.  They will be joined by elementary and middle school age singers from Cache Valley.  An evening to be enjoyed by all!

This fun-filled concert for all ages takes on a spooky twist as it pays homage to the “Haunting of the Ellen Eccles Theatre.”  The Halloween-inspired theatre decorations will provide the perfect backdrop for the 220-voice choir, full orchestra, soloists, dancers, and “surprise guests.”  The program will be produced and hosted by USU Professor Cory Evans, along with Professor Richie Call as his sidekick.  Children are encouraged to wear costumes, and there will be trick-or-treating in the lobby afterward.

Veterans Day Memorial
